Chesterman beach is a popular landscape photography spot in Pacific Rim National Park Reserve near Tofino, BC. It’s not only popular for landscape photography, it’s one of the best surfing beaches in all of Canada! When the tide is out, you can walk forever on the sand. You can even reach the tiny islands! It’s an amazing place. When the sun sets over the expanse of wet sand, it’s absolute magic! I set up my tripod this night in December, just as the clouds and mist roll in. I love the way evenings like this feel, so I never pack up and leave before the end of blue hour. Patience is key in the practice of landscape photography, as is making peace when nothing particularly special happens. Like this evening. The light was ok, but this turned out to be one of my favourite landscape photographs! I think it really captures the personality of this beach. It’s authentic and honest, and not always a show-off.
A few scenes from our recent trip to Las Vegas. The first two are from Valley of Fire State Park and the last one is from Red Rock Canyon. We’re already planning a return trip to check out more of this stunning landscape!
One of my favourite places in Vancouver 🙂
The second full moon in August 2012, taken from Boundary Bay with Mt Baker peaking through the clouds. Whoever picked this day to hold the memorial for the late Neil Armstrong did a fantastic job! A great tribute to one of my childhood heroes.
A great light show courtesy of Italy!
